Samsung’s Mobile Device Management suite KNOX, is being dropped in price to $0. Actually, for that price you probably will receive an “Express” version that includes MDM basics like cloud portal management, and a container or sandbox where certain enterprise related apps can run with no fears. Businesses with a fleet of more than 250 smartphones will have to pony up $1 a month in order to manage a fleet of phones based on company specific policies. This “Premium” edition includes Active Directory integration, and application white-and-blacklisting.

Samsung can afford to price KNOX so cheaply …

Android app will allow you to browse the web without an internet connection, using SMS instead
In emerging markets where an internet connection can sometimes be hard to find, the Cosmos Browser for Android will be a Godsend. This app will allow you to browse the web without having connection to an internet pipeline. Simply punch in the URL, and the app uses SMS to send you a text-only, image free version of the website that you requested.

To keep costs down, you need to have have an unlimited text plan. Also, keep in mind that receiving websites via SMS is still going to be a slow process regardless of how barebones the results are.

“After a person inputs a url, our app …

ZTE ZMAX hands-on

ZTE held a low key press event in New York City, where they unveiled its latest, affordable phablet in the ZTE ZMAX. Yes folks, you read that right – it’s the ZTE ZMAX, a $252 outright phone that can be purchased through T-Mobile starting on September 24th. Considering that it’s an entry-level offering, don’t expect it to tangle in the same space as other recently announced phablets, like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or Apple iPhone 6 Plus. Still, there are certain qualities that’ll appeal to those on a budget, but still want to own a phablet.

Right from the beginning, we can’t …

Friday in New York, Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO of AT&T’s Mobile and Business Solutions group, announced that the carrier will go live with Wi-Fi Calling sometime next year. Wi-Fi calling, which allows you to make calls and send texts over a Wi-Fi network, is supported on the new Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus.

Last week, T-Mobile said that 100% of phones sold by the carrier will now include the feature. T-Mobile gets a head start on AT&T as de la Vega said that the mobile operator would not launch the new service until it was thoroughly tested, which points …

Sprint decides to skip the AWS-3 spectrum auction this November
Sprint has decided not to participate in November’s auction for AWS-3 spectrum, known as Auction 97. Applications to take part in the auction were due today. Upfront payments are due on October 15th, and the auction takes place on November 13th. Among those taking part in the auction are expected to be T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and Dish Network.

This will be the largest sale of spectrum since 2008, when the FCC raked in $19 billion in an auction. While this year’s auction features AWS spectrum, Sprint did say that it would consider participating in next year’s auction of 600MHz spectrum …

LG G2 Lite coming soon, seems to be a rebranded LG L Fino
Although we now have LG G3 smartphones (including non-flagship models like the G3 s and G3 Stylus), it looks like LG isn’t done with the G2 series yet. The company is getting ready to release an LG G2 Lite – as the handset is already listed by several Brazilian retailers.

The G2 Lite (model number LG D295) is smaller than the G2 mini, while also offering less advanced features. For starters, its display is a 4.5-inch one with 480 x 800 pixels, so we can already conclude that we’re dealing with an entry-level handset here. The G2 Lite further features dual SIM capabilities, a quad-core 1.2 …

Samsung pokes fun at Apple in six new ads for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4
We’ve seen Samsung make fun of Apple in its commercials. The last time, Samsung mocked “wallhugging” iPhone users who are attached to an A/C outlet all day, due to the shorter battery life found on the iPhone. Now in a series of six ads, Samsung uses a “genius bar” setting with two goofy employees, to make fun of its rival, and to promote the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The first ad makes fun of the difficulties Apple had with the live stream it was supposed to be sending out yesterday, during its new product introductions.  The spoof shows the two “genius bar” workers, one who is pretending …

Apple Watch rivals and alternatives
Apple unveiled the Apple Watch at its keynote on September 9, the company’s foray into smartwatches, and is poised to enter a market which is currently being dominated by some its archenemies – Samsung, LG, and others – with their Android Wear smartwatches. The latter was announced several months ago, and alongside it, the metal-clad Motorola Moto 360 got announced – a device, which held the attention of many with its compelling and intriguing industrial design, which set it apart from the crop of smartwatches that were currently on the shelves back then.
