Researchers Make New Map Of Immune System In Brain

A group of scientists below the direction of the Medical Center-University of Freiburg has made a completely new map of the brain’s personal immune system in mice and humans. The researchers for the first time ever were successful in showing that the supposed microglia (the phagocytes in the brain) all have the same fundamental signature but take on in different manners depending on their operation. It was earlier assumed that these are different kinds of microglia.

The finding, conducted by means of a high-resolution, new technique for examining single cells, is essential for the knowing of brain diseases. Moreover, the scientists from Göttingen, Freiburg, Bochum, Berlin, Ghent, and Essen showed how the immune system of humans in the brain modifies in the course of MS (multiple sclerosis), which is essential for additional therapeutic approaches. The study was posted in the Nature journal.

On a related note, confusion in bodily regulation can improve our immune system as per a latest discovery made by scientists at the Niels Bohr Institute of University of Copenhagen. The invention might prove to be of great importance for preventing serious diseases such as diabetes and cancer.

Broad gaps are present in our knowledge of how the immune system operates and how we may prevent diseases such as diabetes and cancer. Now, 2 scientists at the Niels Bohr Institute of University of Copenhagen have made an invention that can prove to be an essential piece of the puzzle. Professor Mogens Høgh Jensen and PhD Mathias Heltberg have discovered a completely new method in the way that bodily cells adjust themselves, via chaos. The scientists probed how a specific protein created inside cells, NF-kB, optimize genes. Amongst other stuffs, this specific protein is essential for maintaining the immune defense system of the body and thereby, the ability of body to fight disease.
