Qualcomm’s New Processors To Fuel Smarter AI-Based Speakers

Smart speakers still have more chances of development. How often have you had to bear mediocre sound for the ease of employing your voice, or had to yell an instruction over your song? Qualcomm thinks it can perform better. It is revealing processors that might result in more superior smart speakers. The QSC400 chip is intended to give a more intelligent and quicker answer for voice assistants, even when it is very loud. They can remain in standby for as long as 25 times longer (and hence wake up quicker), manage additional on-device AI and more efficiently identify your voice remotely.

The design also manages 32-channel DTS:X and Dolby Atmos audio, not to cite wireless connectivity such as WiFi, Bluetooth, and the Zigbee smart home protocol. You might see enhanced battery life with moveable speakers, as well.

In association with the latest SoC, Qualcomm is launching the CSRA6640 (a single-chip amplifier) that makes superior amplification more sensible for more affordable and smaller speakers. This will not abruptly turn your entry-level device into an audiophile-level system, but it might result in louder sound from tinnier speakers.

On a related note, the interest by Qualcomm in robots is surely more than just a wish. It disclosed RB3, its first all-encompassing service for robotics. The division is based on 2018’s Snapdragon 845 system-on-a-processor but is “extremely suitable” for drones and other devices, comprising support for private LTE networks, sensor and AI processing, and tight security. More essentially, it is flexible. Firms can tailor it as per their wish if they are not happy with the off-the-grid device, and select an OS akin Robot or Linux Operating System.

You can expect to witness RB3-based bots sometime this year, with big names such as South Korea’s Naver and LG on the short list together with the likes of JD, Anki, and OrionStar.
