Now Affordable & Quality Medicines Can Be Availed At 1000 Chemist Shops In Uttar Pradesh
India from one end is preferred as one of the notable nations for medical tourism, but at the other side is also the country that has high number of deaths rates due to lack of affordable medicines.
Thus, with an intention to deliver quality medicines at reasonable prices for those who come under economically weak division, there was an announcement made that 1,000 jan aushadhi kendras would be established in Uttar Pradesh.
The Center and State government have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bring this into the effect in the presence of Mansukh Lal Mandaviya, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Fertilizers and Chemicals, Minister of State for Health Mahendra Singh, and State Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh.
The outlets will be inaugurated through Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) scheme, a body under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, named as Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI) inked the MoU on behalf of the Central Government and from the Uttar Pradesh government, State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS) in lieu of the state.
While talking about the event, Mandaviya said, “Following the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre’s main concern under the PMBJP scheme was to deliver affordable medicines with quality to the marginalized and poor sections in India.”
“The medicines that will be provided through the scheme are approved after passing through strict quality standards and are offered by the government at lowest prices if compared to the other products offered by branded pharmaceutical companies,” he further added.
The cost of cardiac stents has been brought down by 85% that would probably aid the poor patients, who couldn’t afford them previously.
Mandaviya also shared that through the scheme, over 150 surgical, 600 medicines, and other health products were made obtainable at inexpensive cost at the jan aushadhi kendras located all over the country.
It is also claimed that the figures of medicines under the PMBJP scheme will be soon augmented to 1,000. The central government is also providing financial backing to individuals who intend to setup kendras of Rs 2.5 Lakh through the scheme. The jan aushadhi kendras will be opened at community health centers and government hospitals, in order to deliver maximum benefits to under poverty people.
At the time of announcement, PMBJP website was also introduced for UP. Mandaviya also stated that cabinet of state have already agreed the opening of the stores and allotment for around 400 stores is already in place.
