Act Now Or The Temperatures Will Rise 3-5 Degrees, Scientists Warn Leaders

According to scientists of the World Meteorological Organization, with the current rate of carbon emission and the rate of global warming, the world is not even close to meeting the Paris Agreement on keeping the global temperature increase to below 2 Degrees. Instead, they have warned that with the current progress the world will witness a global temperature increase of 3-5 degrees Celsius by the end of this century.

According to environmentalists, the rise in global temperature is causing extreme calamities like tornadoes and floods. The temperature and the variations in the seasons are also due to the global rise in temperature. This causes cropping patterns to change causing food shortage, which is going to be one of the biggest concerns in Asia in the coming decade according to scientists.

But to reduce the rate of global warming, the countries have to do much more than what they have done till now. If the goals of the Paris Agreement have to be met then we have to reduce carbon emissions to a huge extent in the next 15 Years and attain carbon neutrality or 0% carbon emission target by 2050.

The latter half of this decade has been the warmest ever and has broken all the records. So, it is quite evident that either the leaders are not putting their words into action or their actions need to more significant in nature to diminish the effects of global warming.

The global temperature so far from January to October has been 1.1 degrees higher than the pre-industrial era which is among the top three. So far, the year 2016 was the hottest ever. There is no doubt about the fact that this decade so far has been the warmest one and had broken all records by a fair margin.
